About Vector Auto Transport

Vector Auto Transport is a brand of Neptune Auto Transport LLC, a licensed and bonded property broker. We arrange vehicle transport across the 48 contiguous states with FMCSA-authorized motor carriers. We do not own trucks and we do not drive them. Being clear about that is the starting point for everything else on this page, because a great deal of confusion in this industry comes from companies that are vague about it.

What a broker actually does

There are roughly two kinds of company in auto transport. Carriers own the trucks and employ the drivers. Brokers arrange the work: we price the lane, find a carrier with the right equipment going the right way at the right time, verify that they are legally able to carry your vehicle and adequately insured, and stay with the shipment until it is delivered.

Neither model is better in the abstract. A carrier can only offer you the trucks it owns, on the routes those trucks happen to run. A broker has access to thousands of carriers but adds a layer between you and the driver. The honest summary is that a good broker is worth using because vehicle transport is a matching problem, and a bad broker is worth avoiding because the layer becomes a place to hide.

What separates the two is almost entirely transparency. That is why our quote shows what the carrier is paid and what our fee is, separately, before you book.

Why we price the way we do

The most common complaint in this industry has a specific mechanism behind it. A broker quotes a low number to win the booking. The load goes onto a dispatch board at that price. No carrier accepts it, because it is below what drivers are taking on that lane that week. A few days later the customer gets a call explaining that the price has to go up, usually when it is too late to start again elsewhere.

The quote was never wrong by accident. It was never tied to a real carrier in the first place.

We price against what carriers are actually accepting on your lane, which sometimes means quoting higher than the cheapest number you have been given. When we think a lane will not move at the price you have been quoted elsewhere, we say so rather than matching it and hoping.

What we will tell you before you book

• The price, as one number in writing, with the carrier payment and our brokerage fee shown separately.
• Which factors are driving that number on your particular lane.
• A realistic pickup window, and a delivery estimate described as an estimate.
• Whether your street can take a full-size carrier, and what happens if it cannot.
• The assigned carrier's company name, their operating authority and their cargo insurance limit, before dispatch.

What we will not do

• Quote a number we do not believe a carrier will accept.
• Take a deposit before a carrier is assigned to your vehicle.
• Sell your contact details to other brokers or lead resellers.
• Publish a physical office we do not have, or a review we did not receive.
• Guarantee a delivery hour. Federal hours-of-service limits, weather and routing make that a promise nobody can keep.

The people side

One agent stays with your shipment from the quote through to delivery. This is a deliberate choice rather than a marketing line: a shipment that changes hands between three people loses the context of every conversation that came before, and that is where most of the frustration in this business is generated.
